Things I'm lovin' at the moment ❤

Hello girls!

So I'm finally blogging about a topic that is very overdue, I've been wanting to do this post for AGES!
So here goes...

The things I'm absolutely loving at the moment are:

  • The Hunger Games

I hope you all know what this is about, if not, go and find out, buy the books and get hooked ASAP, please! I lovelovelove this brilliant trilogy, I hadn't been hooked like this on a series of books since Harry Potter! Also, the movie is coming out on the 23rd of March - so hurry - if you want to know what all the hype is about before the film comes out you'd better read the first book quick! (I read it so fast I felt so guilty afterwards for shortening the whole pleasure of it!)

And here's the trailer:

  • Biotin capsules.

I am taking a 5000 mcg biotin capsule a day as a food suplement for overall hair and skin health, after reading millions of reviews raving about it on the internet. After thoroughly combing through the reviews and figuring out if there were any side effects (turns out it's completely safe) I decided to give biotin a go. I ordered it from Amazon.uk, since I couldn't find it in ANY shops in Portugal or in the U.K.
Biotin is basically vitamin B7 and it's responsible for normal growth and body function. Biotin deficiency is rare because, in general, intestinal bacteria produce biotin in excess of the body's daily requirements. For that reason, statutory agencies in many countries, do not prescribe a recommended daily intake of biotin and I suppose that's the reason why it's not a very commonly sold supplement over here or the U.K.
Biotin promotes normal immunity and plays a critical role in skin and hair health, and this is the main reason why so many people are raving about this supplement. They claim that their hair and nails were growing fast like never before, stronger and healthier looking.

So I've been taking 1 capsule a day for almost a month now and I can honestly notice a huge difference on my hair growth already! Not to mention my nails are stronger and don't break or chip as easily.

My hair is very fine and has never been longer than just below my shoulders. We musn't forget everyone has a "maximum length" that their hair can reach, so there's no point wishing that it will grow longer than that point. The thing is my hair has been abused beyond reason the past few years, with all the bleaching, hair extensions, blow drying and whatnot, so now that I'm being kind to my hair, cutting all the dreadful dry ends, abolishing all heat aplliances and letting it grow back to its natural colour, I'm trying to figure out if it actually CAN grow longer and healthier, without it breaking at the ends. With the aid of Biotin, I can already see a great improvement. A friend of mine that hadn't seen me in weeks commented on how long my hair is.

Picture taken in December
1 month later (excuse the stupid face and the shot glass in hand)
I'll keep taking the supplement and I'll keep you posted on any developments.

  • 9gag and Pinterest.
Not much to say, other than that I'm on these two websites more than I'm proud of. I'm kind of addicted to the wonderful world of pinning great fashion and beauty tips, decor and wedding ideas, cute pics, and much much more to my very own virtual boards. I'm also hooked on 9gag, a site where my mood is instantly lifted after reading a couple of hilarious posts.

  • My Little Pony

Yes, I'm hooked on the My Little Pony - Friendship is Magic cartoons. Don't laugh. It all started when I was browsing on 9gag and there was a post about men that enjoy watching My little pony, and are proud of it. They call themselves "bronys" and use expressions like "Welcome to the herd" and "I'm gonna love and tolerate the crap out of you!".

According to the "Urban Dictionary":

Brony

A name typically given to the male viewers/fans (whether they are straight, gay, bisexual, etc.) of the My Little Pony show or franchise. They typically do not give in to the hype that males aren't allowed to enjoy things that may be intended for females. While generally associated with a negative stereotype by outsiders, due to it's former 80's frilly girly-girl twinkle-toed tea-parties and all-female main casting, bronies are attracted to the new show by it's good animation, acting, writing, and humor.

So obviously I was curious WHY on earth would a bunch of men actually really enjoy watching a girls' cartoon. So I went to youtube, searched for episodes and decided to give it a go. The episodes are only 20 minutes long, I like cartoons and cute stuff so how bad could it be??
Turns out not only is it sooooooo cute, it's also incredibly funny and entertaining! The characters are fantastic, each having complex personalities, with virtues and flaws and each episode teaches us an important lesson about friendship.

Long story short, I'm a brony now? Bronette? Pegasister! That's what they call us grown women that enjoy MLP. :)
If you're interested on "joining the herd" or simply figuring out what the hell I'm talking about, click here for the YouTube chanel.

  • Once Upon a Time

This TV show by ABC that centers on a woman with a troubled past who is drawn into a small town in Maine where the magic and mystery of Fairy Tales just may be real.

All I can say is that it's brilliant! I love that you get a deeper understanding of all our childhood fairytale characters like Snow White, Prince Charming, Rumplestiltskin, Hansel and Grettel, Little Red Riding Hood and many more... their stories of their pasts intertwined with the present, modern day. Watch it, now!

Hope you enjoyed this super duper long post!

Take care, xx

Two new loves!

You probably know about my tv series obsession by now.. Well I've just fallen for a couple more, as if I wasn't following enough as it was!

  The Lying Game
The show follows Emma (Chando), a kind-hearted foster kid who cant catch a break. She finds out she has an identical twin sister, Sutton (also played by Chando), who unlike Emma was adopted by wealthy parents and is seemingly living an ideal life. After their initial meeting, Sutton talks Emma into stepping into her life for a few days while she pursues a lead on their birth mother. Initially excited to do this favor for her sister, Emma soon learns that Sutton has gone missing and could be in trouble. Now, Emma must decide whether to come clean to Suttons family and risk her own safety in the hope of uncovering her twin sisters true whereabouts, along with the truth about why they were separated in the first place. - source: IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1798274/synopsis)

Hart of Dixie

Fast-talking New Yorker and brand new doctor Zoe Hart has it all figured out - after graduating top of her class from medical school, she'll follow in her father's footsteps and become a cardio-thoracic surgeon. But when her dreams fall apart, Zoe decides to accept an offer from a stranger, Dr. Harley Wilkes, to work with him at his small practice in Bluebell, Alabama. Zoe arrives in this small Gulf Coast town only to find that Harley has passed away and left his half of the medical practice to her in his will. She quickly finds that Southern hospitality isn't always so hospitable - the other doctor in town, Brick Breeland, is less than pleased to be sharing the practice with this young outsider, and his daughter, Lemon, is a Southern belle whose sweet disposition turns sour when she meets Zoe. Zoe's only allies are the mayor, former football star Lavon Hayes, her bad-boy neighbor Wade Kinsella, and handsome lawyer George Tucker - who just happens to be Lemon's fiance. Zoe is out of her element and ready to pack her bags, but a surprise visit by her snobby New York mother leads to Zoe's decision to stay in Bluebell for a while, discovering small-town life and a side of herself she hadn't known was there - source - Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hart_of_Dixie)

Do you follow any of these TV series? I fully recommend, up till now the storylines seem great and the outfits they wear...to die for! Especially Rachel Bilson, I love her!

Why I ♥ Autumn

For me there's something magical about Autumn. Here in Portugal the summer is so unbearably hot - don't get me wrong, I love it - but when I get to the end of August I'm simply desperate for a cool breeze, some nice refreshing raindrops, snuggling to a blanket watching TV and drinking endless cups of tea.
We are nearly at the end of September, and still no sign of Autumn, although I'll admit it is getting slighty cooler, especially in the evenings.

So apart from all the things people generally like about autumn, like golden leaves and cozy slippers, I love it for a couple extra reasons : My birthday is in October, and more importantly...

The return of my favourite TV shows!

The Vampire Diaries - Season 3

Pretty Little Liars - Season 2

Gossip Girl - Season 5

Grey's Anatomy - Season 8

Update

Hi there lovelies!

These last couple of months have been quite difficult for me, as I'm currently unnemployed & Mr.Fish has been having trouble in his job, with constant delays in the payment of salaries all escalating to the most recent news that his company is about to close down :(
So all in all, it's been a tough time financially speaking, with me usually just bored to death stuck at home, waiting for Mr.Fish to get home after a hard's day work and no pay in sight!
So this weekend brought a pleasant change of atmosphere when some friends of our invited us to dinner on Saturday, we had a great meal and played an hysterical board game resembling charades! On Sunday another group of friends came by our house and payed us a visit, that was a great evening too! I cooked and baked, and was very worried with the outcome of my culinary experiences - but I needed not to fret! It turned out great.

Today I started jogging again, I used to go running every single day about a year ago, I was really fit and so into it! For some reason I stopped, and never seemed to get "back on the horse"! So I was brave today and woke up at the crack of dawn (Okay, so it was 7 am, but it's still very early for a person that's just hanging around at home all day and has the luxury to sleep till her heart's content!).
While Mr.Fish was driving to work, instead of being curled up in my comfy bed, sleeping soundly like I usually am at that time of the day, I was jogging along happily - that is, until I realized just how out of shape I actually am... It wasn't too bad, apart from the violent exhaling making me sound more like a race horse and getting painful side stitches! I do love the sensation though, I feel so exhilirated!

I also started watching the 3rd season of "The Vampire Diaries" - so exciting! I'm so loving it... Anyone else a fan?

And finally, back to my hair issues... I'll leave you with a few random pictures of my new hair, obviously it's too short for my liking, but it's a necessary measure if I'm planning to grow it out healthily! Any tips, girlies?

My gorgeous lazy boy, Marley!

Lazy Sunday

Today has been a typical lazy sunday at home with Mr.Fish. I've been catching up on the 2nd season of The Vampire Diaries, the 3rd season is coming out this month and I can't wait! I am so hooked right now, have been all day just watching one episode after another whilst poor Mr.Fish is left to himself watching TV... haha.

I was also treated to a foot massage, complete with an exfoliating scrub, courtesy of Mr.Fish. Well to be honest, I kinda forced him, but I'll make it up to him...some day! :)

Is anyone else a fan of The Vamp Diaries?? Who is rooting for Damon&Elena, like myself?
God, he's gorgeous.

Have yourselves a good Sunday evening guys!
